Why I Respect Nam Poon Chin – Ethics Informal Essay
There is the one whom I respect so much is Nam Poon Chin. Last winter I met him first in my church. At that time I don’t know how cool he is!! He has various abilities in many fields such as leading groups, encouraging others and opening people’s closed mind etc. Moreover he has very strong will. Now I introduce him more specifically. The first reason that I respect him is distinguished leadership.
A position as a leader is not so easy to any people. It needs tolerance, wisdom, sense and thoughtful consideration. Nam Yoon has almost of all of these things. Last winter, there was a dawn prayer meeting for three weeks for our group(which is a part of the church made up with youth). As a leader and volunteer, he brought as many as 16 people to the church and back home every day by car till the meeting ended. It is very hard work, because it is too early, not every people came to appointed place in time. He drove and telephoned at a time. Although every schedules of driving were changing and changing, he tried to get everyone together. Even if it were terrible hard working, not only he didn’t lose a smile but encourage people. Isn’t it enough to show his leadership and a sacrifice?
Second is an ability to open people’s closed mind. There was a girl who was very quiet and didn’t like to join us. She came to church every Sunday but there was no one told enough to be close with her. One day, system of our group changed, then Nam Yoon cared her. He made every effort to open her closed mind. Sometimes he made an appointment to have dinner with her, studied each their major or together bible in a library and every morning and night send a message or email. After few months, as a result, she show us changed pose. Now she moves and learns bible and GOD with us. And she said “Nam Yoon changed me more cheerful, so I appreciate him.”
Last one is his strong will and concentration. As I thought, having a strong will and concentration is necessary elements of achievement of goal. Come what may, if there are will and concentration, everything is possible. He showed that me with his studying at his school. Last semester was rough time to him. Because his major is T’aekwondo(as every major about sports is hard), and it was the first semester after returning to school. But, although he was injured and had so much to do(for example work for church as a leader), he thought that he must do better because he didn’t want to hear “Christians just know about church!”. So, he did his best during the semester, and got A+ at all subjects. I couldn’t help being astonished. What a wonderful achievement it is.
Except as I wrote above, there are so many things make me surprised and almost every time with him is pleasant to me. Sometimes he is as a leader, a doctor for closed-heart and a man has strong will. And almost of all, he has happiness can make him smile, so he always steps forward happiness. These reasons make me want to know about him more and respect.
